JUST BECAUSE HE'S BLACK?...
A white man asked his black friend, 'Are you voting for Barack Obama
just because he's black?
The black man responded by saying, Why not? Hell, in this country men
are pulled over everyday just because they're black; passed over for
promotions just because they're black; considered to be criminals just
because they're black; and there are going to be thousands of you who
won't be voting for him just because he's black! However, you do not
seem to have a problem with that!
This country was built with the sweat whip off the black slaves' back,
and now a descendent of those same slaves has a chance to lead the
same
country, where we weren't even considered to be people, where we
weren't
allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in
the
same restaurants, or even vote.
So yes! I'm going to vote for him! But it's not just because he's
black,
but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to
understand
when my grandchild says that they want to be president when they grow
up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. They now see,
understand, and know that they can achieve, withstand and do ANYTHING
just because they are black!

Hate to point this out to you, but Barack Obama is not a decendent of a slave. He is the child of a Hawaiian white woman and a foreign born Kenyan.
LOL...either you are a white guy who wants to diminish Obama's obvious BLACKNESS due to him becoming YOUR next president... or you're very confused. He's BLACK!...Hell we could probably split hairs and make John Mcain CHINESE!

I never understood folks who need to point out "Obama isn't the decedent of a slave." What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
Obama faces the same racism that other Blacks face in America. The last time I checked, racists didn't perform a background check to confirm whether your ancestors were slaves. To them, a "nigga" is a "nigga" and we're all worth the same... NOTHING.
I also resent Whites who believe I pledged "mindless" support for Obama just because he's Black. What would explain all the years I voted for Whites? What would explain that I would probably never vote for a Conservative Black, and don't support candidacies for folks like Rev. Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson?
My support for Obama isn't mindless. With McCain as the alternative, I'd have the same full support behind Hillary Clinton or John Edwards.

Saw the second debate last night. There's plenty of buzz around McCain referring to Obama as "THAT ONE." Many equate that remark to "YOU PEOPLE." Does that go along with not shaking Obama's hand at the end? Does McCain care that Obama isn't the descendant of a slave? Does that make him a different kind of "nigger" to racist whites?

He's Black, not because he thinks of himself as so, but because the larger world so perceives him. Let's not trivialize the meaning to "U(.)S(.)" of his assent by intimating that it is wrong for the African American community to revel in his well-earned success, since he "transcends race."

Great post Kodiack! Well, the fact of whether he's black or not is inconsequential--he will be our next President, and HE feels he is black. He has a black wife, and his soul is black. By the way, here in the deep south, if he tried to catch a cab or go to a white school he would catch hell...BECAUSE HE'S BLACK!
Oh Holy Christ! Racisim is still here b/c ppl like you wont shut it up!! If ppl keep wanting to talk about it, then it will stick around. Oh, and Obama will bring this country down just as fast if not faster than Bush did. He is stealing from us right now...B/c of Obama, we will never have a another black president. Black Americans should be pissed off at him rather than praising him.
I am so sick of hearing about how history has been made - in terms of the last presidential election. Is Alan Keyes too black or too godly for the Democratic Party. Mr. Keyes has run for president a couple of times now and has yet to garner much of the "black vote." Why? Because many black people are "down with OPP" etc, etc and still manage to shout the name "Jesus, jesus" during their Sunday charades. Alan Keyes is too godly for the Democratic party
